That Kate Girl

Time Of My Life PT.3

Monday came, and it was time to finally go snowboarding. Taj and Emma had never been boarding before, so we had to go into town at the break of dawn and hire them a board, boots and bindings (if you’ve ever been to NZ for some snow play, then you’d know never to hire your equipment on the mountains – that’s a no hoper). So, we racked up our gear and made our way to Coronet Peak. Last time I went to Coronet, the facilities were pretty minimal, but over the break, they had totally rejuvenated the place (like the deck area and stuff). It was so much better. Jack and I were so tempted to just enroll Taj and Em into a beginners lessons, and hit the slopes alone, but of course we didn’t. It was actually a lot of fun teaching them to board. Taj was a bit of a natural; he picked it up really quick (I guess because of his surfing). Emma however, wasn’t too good, but Jack was great with her. By the end of the day, after a thousand trips up the magic carpet ride and down the beginners slope, the two had made a lot of progress. Jack and I wanted at least one ride down the big slopes, so we left the other two at it just as the sun was going down over the mountain. And boy did we rock it. Hahaha. It was great having the fresh icy air run past my body and making my face go numb as I slid down the mountain. And I tell you what, Jack was awesome! He was so quick and was so controlled. I knew that his parents often take him over to the Swiss Alps (*dreams*) ever since he was little, but I had no idea how talented he was at snowboarding. He could have been a Burton Rider.

So, after many stacks and bruises later (when we couldn’t hack the cold anymore – the temperature drops like crazy after the sun goes down over the mountain), we headed back down the hill. We made a slight detour as we headed to our place, to the grocery store. Grocery shopping is so much more fun when everyone in there is either a snowboarder or skier. We picked out a lot of junk food, and then the boys stopped us and made us buy some veges and healthy stuff too. Haha. That night we were all so buggered, we decided to have a night in. We watched a couple of rented DVD’s while we ate our beautiful Taj special stir fry. And we all fell asleep right in front of the TV. LOL!

The next day we went to Coronet Peak again, bright and early. Jack and I left the kids at the beginners run, and headed off to the more advanced runs. It wasn’t before long that Taj joined us. He was a bit shaky at first, but he handled the steeper slopes really well, doing the C-turns and that. He wasn’t too good at stopping down the bottom though, hehehe. I left the boys to it to find Emma. Looks like she had made a few friends. Danielle (who was our age), Michael (20) and David (21). They are siblings from NSW, on a family trip. We ended up chilling with them that night and the night after that. We went to a place where its made of ice, like a club kinda, in Queenstown. It was pretty awesome. I’d never been there before.

After another day of snowboarding Wednesday (this time at The Remarkables), we went partying again with Dani, Mick and Dave. I actually ran into Vivian and Tony (who are American twins who have a holiday place right near mine). So we had a pretty big group by then, and we were meeting new people constantly. Oh we had such an awesome night out. The next day we didn’t get up until noon, which was very slack. We decided we were way too tired to go boarding, so we let our bodies rest for a while. We ended up going for lunch up the Gondola, and then the boys decided they wanted to go bungy jumping while we were up there! OMFG! Ahhhh. There was no way Em or I were going to do it. It was great fun watching though. They were so excited, but you could tell they were somewhat freaked out. They both did it though. I think I was more scared than they were in the end, LOL! Then we all headed back into town for a spot of shopping. I bought 2 new pairs of Burton ski pants (which were on SALE – 60% off!), a green pair and a yellow pair, some new goggles and a pair of braces! The braces are so cool, so old school. Love em.

Thursday was our last full day. We went to The Remarkables and shredded the snow up! We had such a good snow sesh. I was buggered by the end, but it was totally worth it. Snowboarding is such an adrenaline rush, I love it. That night we went out, just the four of us to dinner. We drank way too much champagne and had way too much fun.

The next day we packed up quickly and left for the airport (not too far out from town). We dropped off the car and before we knew it the trip was over and we were back in Sydney. It was very late by the time we landed in Sydney, so when we arrived at the hotel we all crashed. And then we slept on the plane back home on Saturday.

It seriously was the time of my life. We had so much fun. I feel like Em and I are back to our old ways, and I’ve gotten to know Jack really well. It was great to go away with Taj too. He’s just so amazing and so much fun and the coolest guy out. Hehehe. Goodness, I love those 3 to bits. So yes, that was my awesome trip. It went so quickly. And now here I am, back at uni (I wrote half of this entry in a lecture, haha). I’m meeting Taj for lunch soon, once this very boring lecture is done.

Oh and I have some other news for you too. Dad received a call while I was over in NZ, from Robert, Melinda’s Dad, who is a partner of an advertising firm in the city. Anyway, they want to have a interview with me soon, for a paid work experience job. I had the interview yesterday afternoon, after uni. They told me the job would be more like grabbing coffee’s for people and filing and boring stuff like that, but they also said that I should be able to attend some meetings and maybe even contribute idea’s to promotions and stuff. I think I did pretty good at the interview, but they did say that because I was 17, it would be very hard for me to acquire the position. Anyway, so they said I should hear back from them next week sometime. Fingers crossed!

Oh, what a long entry. I wonder who will get through it all? :\ Hahaha.
